Pillar II: The Sacraments
The Seven Sacraments of the New Covenant
Christ instituted seven sacraments — efficacious signs of grace, instituted by Christ and entrusted to the Church, by which divine life is dispensed to us. They are: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist (the three Sacraments of Initiation), Penance/Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick (the two Sacraments of Healing), Holy Orders, and Matrimony (the two Sacraments at the Service of Communion). The sacraments touch every important moment of Christian life — birth, growth, healing, forgiveness, mission, marriage, ministry, and death.
From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.
— John 1:16 (WEB)
Note
CCC §1210-1666. Each sacrament has matter, form, minister, and recipient — and confers a specific grace.
