The Word, or Son of God, Made Truly Man

The Son, who is the Word of the Father, the very and eternal God, of one substance with the Father, took human nature in the womb of the blessed Virgin Mary. Two whole and perfect natures, divine and human, were joined together in one person, never to be divided. He is Christ — truly God and truly man — who suffered, was crucified, died, and was buried to reconcile the Father to us, and to be a sacrifice not only for original guilt, but also for actual sins.

The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
