Good Works

Although good works, which are the fruits of faith and follow after justification, cannot put away our sins and endure the severity of God's judgment, yet they are pleasing and acceptable to God in Christ. They spring out of a true and lively faith — by them faith may be as evidently known as a tree is discerned by its fruit.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.

Note

Works are fruits of faith — never the root. Wesley was particularly emphatic that real faith always produces visible holiness.
