The Indwelling Holy Spirit

The present ministry of the Holy Spirit is essential — by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. The Spirit convicts of sin, regenerates, indwells, baptizes into Christ's body, seals, fills, and empowers believers for witness and service.

But if the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

The Christian life is not white-knuckle willpower. It is the indwelling Spirit doing in us what we could never do for ourselves.
