The Priesthood of All Believers
In Baptist understanding, every believer is a priest before God — with direct access through Christ, the responsibility to read and interpret Scripture, and a calling to ministry. This was a Reformation rediscovery that Baptists embraced more fully than most. It is closely tied to soul competency: each soul stands before God, and each soul ministers as a priest.

1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
Royal priesthood — corporately, all believers. Not a clerical class.

1 Peter 2:5
You also, as living stones, are built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
Each believer is a living stone in a spiritual house — a holy priesthood.

and he made us to be a Kingdom, priests to his God and Father; to him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Made us priests — past tense, accomplished fact.

Hebrews 10:19-22
Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus, by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having a great priest over the house of God, let's draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith,
Entry into the holy place is the priest's privilege. It is now the believer's privilege.

Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.
Our whole lives are the priestly offering — every day, every act.

Hebrews 13:15-16
Through him, then, let's offer up a sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of lips which proclaim allegiance to his name. But don't forget to be doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
Sacrifices that please God now: praise, good deeds, generosity. The priesthood is daily.

Every believer has a gift. The priesthood ministers through the body.

As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don't need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things,
The Spirit is the believer's anointing — directly received, directly active.
A prayer
Lord Jesus, You have made me a priest before God. I do not approach You through any other mediator. Teach me to live as Your priest in this world — interceding, ministering, proclaiming, serving. Amen.
